What happens when you use Secret Mode?

When you activate LG’s webOS Secret Mode, your browsing history is not saved. Secret Mode means that cookies and cache are automatically cleared when you end your browsing session and close all tabs. This does not affect your bookmarks or predictions. If you change your bookmarks, they are saved. However, no one can see what you searched for through the web browser. In effect, it’s as if you never were there.

Why use Secret Mode?

There are several reasons why you might want to use Secret Mode.
Protect your children: If you have children at home, you may want to prevent them from seeing age-inappropriate content. This could be details about movies or TV shows that your children are not allowed to see, articles, or videos. Or it could be personal items that only you can see.
Don’t spoil the surprise: If you use web browsing to help you shop, you may not want your spouse, children, roommates, or friends to see what you search for. For example, if it’s a gift, it could ruin the surprise. The same goes for finding a vacation spot that you want to keep a secret until you book it.
Privacy between roommates or family members: Another reason you might use Secret Mode is if you live in a shared space with roommates and want to keep your browsing history private.
Rental space: If you run an AirBnb, you can give your guests the opportunity to enjoy all that webOS has to offer while protecting their privacy.
Organize your space: Finally, automatically clearing your search history frees up space on your TV and keeps it running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Just like you periodically clear your cache and search history on your computer or phone, or close all open tabs and windows, this feature automates the process on your TV.
Secret mode doesn’t mean you have nothing to hide. It’s simply a way to make your browsing sessions private and private, especially on devices like your TV that everyone in your home can access and use.
