Design and Features
The Wasagun Folding Portable Grill Table is designed to be a full-service portable assistant for grilling tasks. When fully assembled, the table is 28 inches tall. The work surface is 40.5 inches wide and 17 inches deep, including the removable extension shown on the left side of the table.
I was trying to confirm the material choice, but it appears to be powder-coated aluminum or steel. No matter what material it’s made of, the structure is sturdy when assembled, with sturdy wheels and the ability to withstand up to 300 pounds of weight. The cart itself weighs 40 pounds.
This table has a series of features that make your life easier while managing the flames. The aforementioned 10.5-inch shelf extension combines the vertical paper towel bar and condiment shelf on the back of the cart, all of which can be removed when not needed. There is a magnetic strip for tools and a bottle opener on the front, and two additional removable shelves below the work surface. Wasagun also includes a fabric pad that you can place on your work surface to prevent scratches.
The right side of the cart includes a removable push handle for storage. The wheels on this side rotate 360 degrees to steer the cart and feature a locking mechanism to prevent the cart from popping out when in place. This side also includes drilled holes and hooks that can be used to hang additional tools or towels.
To pack your Wasagun Foldable Portable Grill Table, remove all components as shown below.
Flip the table over and twist and pull the handle on the side to unlock the legs.
Store all the parts in the box, then fold up the legs to keep everything in place. The leg with the rotating wheel goes down first, then the fixed wheel goes down.
The fixed wheel legs are held in place by the pegs shown here…
… Now you’re ready to store it in your garage or car trunk!
There is a pop-up handle that can be used to transport the table. The locking handles on the legs, magnetic strips and bottle opener cannot be removed for transport.
Assembly, installation, setup
It’s worth taking a moment to discuss the assembly of the Wasagun Folding Portable Grill Table. All parts come in one box and all parts and components are well packaged to prevent damage during travel.
The legs are pre-assembled. Just tighten the spinning wheel.
The explanation seemed a bit vague, but there wasn’t much to cover. One thing to note here is that you can install a second shelf on the cart into the back panel if you wish. I’m not sure why you would want to do that, but it’s optional.
All necessary hardware and tools are included, including drivers. Everything is clearly marked on the package so you never have to guess which parts you need.
When you get it, you will find these plastic bumpers on the table; It is set to be removed once you start setup.
Other than that, most parts slide into pre-cut slots or hang on screws to be installed as part of the assembly process.
The spice basket can be folded for storage. Open the tab, slide the tab into the appropriate slot, and then slide it into the pre-cut slot on the table to use.
The kit includes a pair of hanging hooks, but also includes a vinyl Velcro strap for additional tools. However, it didn’t fit into the slot according to the instructions so it wasn’t useful. I should probably buy some metal hooks to hang them on.
The table is designed to be used with additional cooking appliances such as camping stoves, portable induction ranges, and electric grills, so we created a fabric pad to protect the work surface. The kit comes with double-sided tape for mounting, but I just leave it on the table and use it. You will need to cut about 1 inch from all edges to permanently attach it to the surface.
Performance
The Wasagun Foldable Portable Grill Table boasts some very cool design elements that make it very useful as a grill accessory. I mainly use it as a prep table next to the grill to organize tools and accessories while I work.
I like plenty of work space. Here, there are potatoes wrapped in foil on the next shelf while I prepare the asparagus. There’s plenty of room here for the cutting board you use for prep, a quarter baking sheet, a salt shaker, and a nicely chilled beverage.
I also love the array of accessories that enhance organization. Using paper towel racks and spice racks/boxes can help keep things from rolling around when they shouldn’t. This is always a problem when working in confined spaces. Hooks and magnets help you keep tools you don’t need out of the way, and the bottom shelf has plenty of space to store anything else you might need in your space.
However, if there is one drawback to table design for food preparation, it is height. One of the main uses Wasagun promotes for this table is as a cart for cookware such as electric grills or induction hobs. These devices add height to your work surface. Without it, you’ll have to bend down a bit since the table is 28 inches tall, as you can see below. I am 5’10”; I think this table would be uncomfortable for tall people to work on.
I haven’t tested it yet, but I think this cart would make a fantastic portable bar cart. The bottle opener and bottom shelf space make it easy to place mixers and bottles on the top shelf while storing glassware and/or shallow ice buckets on the bottom shelf. We’ll explore those options for your summer party!
As for overall durability, I’m interested in how well it will hold up over long-term use. The powder-coated surface shows slight scratches when folded, unfolded and bumped. Although it does not affect stability, it is something to consider if you are considering it as a camping car. The build is sturdy, but not particularly thick, so I think it could bend or dent if it’s hit hard or dropped.
Regarding portability: When trying to store all the removable parts, I found that the smaller parts didn’t stay neatly stored. The instructions aren’t really clear on this point, but it’s like stacking everything between the folded legs of the cart without bending anything. You can see the handle protruding below. All flat, square pieces (shelves, folded shelf boxes) can be stored well, but other accessories are best stored separately.
The total weight is also 41 pounds. This makes it suitable for exercise if you prefer the durability of the build but transport it away for outdoor use.
