There is no Property Editor tab in ADUC. [Fixed]

To edit properties of AD objects, such as DN, you need the Property Editor tab. However, this tab is not available by default in Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC).

The Property Editor tab allows you to edit specific object properties, such as distinguished name. Unfortunately, administrators wonder why they can’t find an object when they open it in ADUC.

In the first section, we will show you how to enable this feature.

But did you know that there are two different AD tools that you can use to edit AD properties of objects?

In addition to ADUC, you can easily access this feature through Active Directory Administrative Center (ADAC) and ADSI Edit.

In the last two sections, I’ll show you how to access the Property Editor using these two Active Directory tools.

Activate the Property Editor tab in ADUC.

To enable the property editor in ADUC see Tap and select advanced features.

After enabling advanced features, when you open the Active Directory object you will see the following: Attribute Editor tab.

Access the property editor via ADAC

When you open an AD object in Active Directory Administrative Center (ADAC), you can immediately access the Editor tab for that attribute.

Here are the steps to access an AD user’s Attribute Editor tab in ADAC:

1. Open Server Manager and click Next. equipment Select “Active Directory Administrative Center”.

2. When ADAC opens, expand Domains and click the AD container that contains the user object. In this example, the user we want to edit is in the “Writers OU”.

3. Then right-click on the user and select “Properties.”

4. Finally, click “Extensions” and click the “Property Editor” tab.

Access the Property Editor through ADSI Edit

1. Open ADSI Edit in Server Manager.

2. In the ADSI Edit console, left-click the domain name and then expand it.

3. Then open the properties of the object following the numbers shown in the screenshot below.

In step 1, left-click the domain context, and in step 2, expand it by left-clicking once. Steps 3, 4, 5, and 6 are all done with a single left click.

You can access the Property Editor by opening the properties of an object in ADSI Edit!

Most new AD SysAdmins use Active Directory Users and Computers to manage objects. But as these beginners began to approach the realm of advanced management, they encountered obstacles.

One of these areas is accessing an object’s Property Editor tab through ADUC.

I started this guide by showing you how to enable this advanced feature. We then showed two other tools that have this functionality.
