Anime Girls: Sun of a Beach is the sequel to Anime Girls: Highschool of Dead. Instead of anime schoolgirls shooting zombies, there are anime girls wearing skimpy swimsuits shooting mutant crabs and the like. In some ways, the series has evolved. In other ways, it’s a huge step backwards. First of all, the level design is a small island beach with little reason to explore. There were boxes everywhere in high school. Sun of a Beach has ammo boxes, but no health or weapon boxes. Additionally, there are eggs containing spider-like things that pop out when you get close, adding to your kill count for each wave. Therefore, navigation is not recommended.
Sun of a Beach is now split into two or three waves each lasting 30 days. Weapons are now available in the Weapon Shop and are purchased through cash that trickles in as you progress through levels. You start off with a pistol, and only a pistol, and have to save up for a shotgun, machine gun, and sniper rifle. The fact that you start with a pistol is a hindrance as it does little damage and requires constant reloading. Gameplay boils down to running backwards in a circle and shooting monsters until they are all dead. Rinse and repeat.
Anime Girls: Sun of a Beach is simply not good or fun. It felt like a chore and I put it down pretty quickly. Shooting zombies was fun. Stinging spider crabs can’t save this, even if the woman wears a bikini. The game received a backend score of 4, meaning it is not recommended.
Overall: Anime Girls: Sun of a Beach has a good name, but that’s about it.
verdict: Not recommended
