If your child uses the Yoto Mini speaker, please remove it immediately. Yoto has recalled a popular speaker due to a problem with the charging cable, which causes the lithium-ion battery to overheat and catch fire, causing burns and fire hazards.
This recall affects Yoto Mini speakers sold nationwide from November 2021 to April 2024. This includes 251,165 devices in the United States and 19,721 devices in Canada with the PRPLXX00860 SKU. You can find the SKU number on the bottom of the device, along with the speaker’s serial number and model name. No injuries were reported.
You do not need to remove the entire device. You can receive a free replacement Mini Smart Cable by contacting the company. Yoto says it will “keep battery charging within safe limits” and “minimize the risk of overheating.” The company also said it has released a software update for the Mini speaker to “improve battery management and extend Yoto Mini use between charges.”
To get a replacement, you’ll need to log into the Yoto website, add the serial number of your Yoto Mini, and upload a photo of the included Yoto Mini charging cable cut in half. Then you can order a free Smart Cable and also receive a $20 voucher. For more information, please contact minihelp@yotoplay.com.
