A new patent from Nintendo shows off a dock with a great cable management solution that could be used for the Switch 2!
The Nintendo Switch is a truly unique console that combines handheld gaming and couch gaming. Despite its very clever design, there are still a few things gamers are unhappy with about this system.
One of the problems many Nintendo fans have with the Switch 2 is cable management using the console dock. But Nintendo is aware of these complaints, and has now patented a dock design that makes for much simpler cable management!
Nintendo Switch 2 Dock May Have Rotation Port
A new Nintendo patent, first reported by Nintendo Life, details a dock that looks very similar to the Nintendo Switch’s dock, complete with a rotating cable port.
The dock patent features a rotating ‘swivel block’ with HDMI, LAN, and AC adapters on one side and a USB port on the other. Meanwhile, there are gaps on both sides of the dock itself for wires.
This 180-degree rotating design allows gamers to feed the wires through both sides of the dock, making cable management easier. Additionally, the Switch dock can be placed on either side of the TV without bending or damaging the wires.
Nintendo may not be using this rotating port patent with the Switch 2, but it certainly indicates that the developer is considering dock cable management. So we expect to see some sort of solution to this problem in Nintendo’s next console.
Switch 2 is expected to release in March 2025, so expect to hear news about the console later this year. Stay tuned for an official announcement from Nintendo in the coming months!
