Meta Quest 2 and accessories are cheaper than ever.

Over the past two years, the price of MetaQuest 2 has skyrocketed. In 2022, Meta increased the price of this VR headset from $299.99 to $399.99 due to parts shortage. The price then dropped to $249.99 in late 2023, shortly after the company’s $499.99 Quest 3 was released. It’s now selling for a comfortable $199.99 at several retailers, and most are offering some kind of freebie that costs an extra $50 or so with your purchase. I don’t expect costs to get any lower than this, and frankly, they don’t need to. The Quest 2 offers incredible value at this price.

The 128GB (base model) Quest 2 wireless headset costs $199.99 at Walmart, and you’ll receive a $50 Meta Quest store gift card with your purchase. Best Buy is offering the 128GB Quest 2 for $199.99, plus the Logitech Chorus over-ear headphone attachment for free ($99.99 value). Chorus’ headphones uniquely float above your ears in a similar way to Valve’s Index headsets. The headphones will automatically be added to your shopping cart.

Amazon is also offering the headset for $199.99, but there’s no exciting bundle.

In general, the price of accessories for the Quest 2 doesn’t go down just because the headset is there. However, most official accessories related to the Quest 2 are discounted by more than half off at several retailers. Meta Quest 2 – Elite Strap

The standard straps included with Quest 2 are: decent, until the headset starts shaking above your head during intense gameplay. I think upgrading at some point is something most owners will and should do, and thankfully, getting the Elite Strap upgrade is a very easy to justify as a one-day purchase for $24.99 (normally $50). The Elite strap can be tightened around the head for a more comfortable fit.

Meta Quest 2 – Hard Case

Although it doesn’t rank as high on the list of must-have accessories for the Quest 2 as the Elite Strap, a zip-up case is really nice to have and will keep your headset from breaking while falling off a table. This hard case can store the headset, two controllers, and small accessories. Paying $50 for the Quest 2 when it launched was a tough pill to swallow, but now it’s only $19.99 at several retailers.
