Luzerner Kantonalbank AG (LUKB) has been allowing customers to trade and store cryptocurrencies since early March 2024.
The new offering is fully technologically integrated into LUKB’s core banking systems and electronic banking (mobile and desktop). There are currently three cryptocurrencies to choose from: Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USD Coin.
LUKB has been covering the topic of digital assets and cryptocurrencies since 2020, and after intensive understanding of the market and customer requirements, we have built internal expertise on the one hand and our own infrastructure that is seamlessly integrated into the core infrastructure on the other. The banking system, as well as electronic finance and mobile banking, have been integrated into banks.
The product and infrastructure have been pre-tested at various product stages over several months. LUKB’s offer is aimed at people living in Switzerland who want to invest in cryptocurrency easily, safely and conveniently. A prerequisite is a securities account at LUKB.
By fully integrating cryptocurrency functionality into LUKB’s electronic banking, customers can get a complete overview of their cryptocurrency assets in just a few clicks. LUKB is the first traditional bank to build an ISAE 3000 certified self-custodial solution for digital assets.
Currently, you can trade three cryptocurrencies 24 hours a day using LUKB solutions: Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USD Coin.
LUKB plans to launch additional cryptocurrencies in the coming weeks and launch a cryptocurrency investment plan to invest regularly in the cryptocurrency market. We are also planning the ability to import and export cryptocurrencies from other wallets into the LUKB solution.
