Cybersecurity company Lookout Inc. today announced a new strategic partnership with fellow cybersecurity firm Fortra LLC to provide customers with comprehensive security coverage that protects their data in the modern threat landscape.
Through this partnership, Fortra is introducing a new Digital Guardian Secure Service Edge solution based on the Lookout Cloud Security Platform. Security Service Edge products provide continuous monitoring of user and device risk posture with dynamic, granular, zero trust access based on app and data sensitivity.
The company said the combined service combines a cloud access security broker, secure web gateway and zero trust network access to help organizations protect employees, devices, applications and data from unauthorized access and Internet-based threats.
Lookout argues that as the workforce becomes increasingly distributed, remote and hybrid work schedules have become the norm, and demand for cloud and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications has surged beyond pre-pandemic expectations. As the way we work changes, security teams face the challenge of ensuring secure access to all employee devices accessing public or private cloud apps and maintaining control over sensitive data. At the same time, security measures should not disrupt the workflow of employees, regardless of their location or the tools they use.
“As enterprises migrate their data and workloads to the cloud, the threat landscape has become broader and more complex. Threat actors are taking advantage of this complexity to exploit gaps and continually scale up their attacks,” said Chief Executive Officer Jim Dolce. “Digital Guardian Secure Service Edge, powered by Lookout, provides a complete set of security technologies to protect sensitive data and applications as organizations adopt the cloud.”
Fortra will be known as HelpSystems until 2022. Founded in 1982, the company was acquired by HIG Capital in 2015 before being acquired by private equity firm HGGC in 2021 in a $1.2 billion deal.
Lookout was previously in the news in October, announcing improvements to its cloud security platform designed to help organizations better discover, assess, and protect data moving across any network.
