I remember over 20 years ago when I was in high school and my math class had a computer in the back. There was a game on the computer where gorillas were throwing bananas at each other. Enter the throwing angle and strength and try to guess. Notebook Artillery is a sequel to this type of game. To be fair, so does the Worms series, but this game brings back the idea of an artillery game in math class, and it does that well. There are three modes: Target Practice, VS. CPU and Vs. Player 2. The gameplay in all three modes is the same. After adjusting the firepower and angle, fire with the A button. In target practice, you hit a variety of targets. In VS. In this mode, you attack your opponent’s cannon. This is what laptop artillery is all about.
Notebook Artillery is simple and affordable at $4.99. The only complaint I have is that there is no end to the mode. There was no limit to the number of targets you could hit or the number of cannons you could destroy, but the same was true for the artillery game in math class. They kept going. The question is, should I buy this or the Worms game? Well, it depends on how old you are. If you’re like me and want to relive your high school days, this is it. If you are younger and want a full-fledged game, the game Worms is possible. Laptop Artillery is recommended with 8 out of 10 points. This is because they do what they promise. It even says this in the marketing copy.
Once upon a time, in the late 20th century, near the beginning of the second decade of the millennium, a magical confluence occurred in middle school Macintosh computer labs around the world. It’s artillery.
It is notorious among teachers as an attention scourge. Many students spend their entire computer lab shooting cannonballs at each other instead of writing English assignments. The temptation is so great that no child will be able to resist the siren call of the game’s accurate physics model and competitive nature.
If you want, buy Notebook Artillery.
Overall: Notebook Artillery skillfully recreates math classroom classics. If you want it, get it.
