Max Particles, or MP, are the currency required to participate in Max Battles, which can be found at Power Spots, and to unlock and power up Max Moves.
You can obtain Max Particles in one of three ways:
- Interacting with Power Spots (100MP per power spot per day, 20MP extra on first visit)
- walking (300MP per 2km)
- Buy Max Particle Pack From the in-game store (starting at 800 MP for 150 PokéCoins)
Niantic describes interacting with Power Spots as the “primary source” of Max Particles, with walking being an additional extra. Max Particles are required to participate in Max Battles, so it’s recommended that you do both to get the currency you need.
You can see how much time is left until your next walk reward by tapping the radar at the bottom right of the map screen, then selecting the Power Spots tab.
There is a limit to the maximum number of particles you can obtain per day, which will be explained later on this page.

Power Spots are a point of interest alongside PokéStops and Gyms, and are characterized by their tall, purple, glowing orbs.
In the same way that gyms can host raids, Power spots can host the biggest battles. Here you can battle Dynamax Pokémon. You can also place Dynamax Pokémon on Power Spots after a Max Battle.
There are also power spots Where to get Max ParticlesIt’s the same way you get items by spinning a disc at a PokéStop or Gym. When Max Particles are absorbed, the orbs around the Power Spot will disappear, indicating that you’ve claimed that day’s resource.
There is something to note Power Stops do not replace PokéStops or Gyms. And in our experience, it appears roughly midway between other points of interest in a business location.
yes, Power spots change location regularlyThey disappear every 3-5 days and then reappear somewhere else, keeping the map fresh.
You can see how long a Power Spot will remain on the map by tapping the Nearby menu at the bottom right of the map screen, then selecting the Power Spots tab.

The debut of this feature includes: Total maximum particle limit For 1,000 MP Daily limit Collect 800MP per day.
If you have reached your limit and want to gain more MP that day, Then you have to use itYou can do this by participating in Max Battles or by unlocking and leveling up the Max Moves of your Dynamax Pokémon (which requires you to spend Candy).
It’s worth noting that you can Technically you have exceeded the daily 800MP cap. If you collect the resources in the right order, for example by claiming the last walking reward or power spot source, it will take you there (for example, stopping at 6 power spots for 720 MP, then claiming the walking reward for 300 MP to get 1,020 MP). Thanks to the Silph Road subreddit community for testing this out, I will update this guide as the thresholds change over time.
You can see how many Max Particles you have overall by tapping the nearby menu at the bottom right of the map screen, then selecting the Power Spots tab.
How to place Pokemon in power spots

Similar to Gyms, Dynamax Pokémon can be placed in Power Spots if there is enough space, which provides several benefits:
- They can support other trainers in maximum battles, increasing their attack multiplier.
- Increases the chance of wild (normal) Pokémon appearing around Power Spots.
- Placed Pokémon will earn Candy, which will be given as a reward when returned.
Success in a Max Battle will allow you to place a Dynamax Pokémon on a Power Spot, and after assisting in a certain number of Max Battles, the Dynamax Pokémon will be returned or the Power Spot will close.
To see how many Dynamax Pokémon are placed in a Power Spot and what their current attack bonuses are, tap the “Trophy” icon in the upper right corner of the Max Battle entry screen. If there’s no number there, you haven’t Dynamaxed any Pokémon yet.
