When we talk about Apple headphones, you probably think we’re talking about the best AirPods ever. But Apple still makes the wired earbuds that came in the iPhone box. Known as EarPods, they were first released 14 years ago with the iPhone 5. But it seems like it’s time to say goodbye to Apple’s earbuds.
Apple may be discontinuing its $19 wireless earbuds, according to MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris. Aaron Perris found Target labeling all variants of the Apple EarPods (Lightning, 3.5mm, USB-C) as “Non-Carry Forward.” This typically means they won’t be back in stock, suggesting Apple may be discontinuing the earbuds.
Today, Target reported that all three models of Apple EarPods (Lightning, 3.5mm, USB-C) were marked as “Non-Carry Forward.” This means they will be discontinued soon. pic.twitter.com/IIKPwxqgxaSeptember 9, 2024
Apple stopped shipping EarPods in international iPhone boxes starting with the iPhone 12. Of course, Apple is not the only company that no longer includes earbuds in the box. While Apple was initially mocked for removing the earbuds from the iPhone box, Samsung later followed suit with its own device, just as it had previously done with the 3.5mm headphone jack. The same goes for the charger.
