Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama passed away last March, but like all great artists, the legend lives on through his work. Although Toriyama is primarily known as the creator of Dragon Ball and the character designer of Dragon Quest, he has worked on many other projects over the years, contributing to games such as Chrono Trigger and other manga series.
Toriyama’s art is featured prominently in all Dragon Quest games. He designed the characters and monsters as well as the box art. His tenure working on Square Enix’s fantasy role-playing series spanned from 1986 on the first Dragon Quest game for the NES until his death.
