Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold (There are so many that I can’t express them in words!) offers an exclusive feature for online video calls. This feature is now available in Google Meet and is called Dual Screen. In simple terms, it displays the other party in the call video feed from the front and rear cameras.
Dual Screen can only be activated after you start a call. When you tap to bring up the controls, a new icon will appear. This icon activates Dual Screen along with Dual Display, but Dual Display can be turned off. Once activated, Google Meet will start showing the feed as a split-screen feed. Half of it is you, and the other half is the surroundings in front of you.
For now, it looks like Dual Screen is only available on the 9 Pro Fold. But that doesn’t seem to be the case for much longer. For one, other foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 should have no problem supporting Dual Screen. Second, Google probably doesn’t want to be sued in the EU for giving its devices an advantage over its competitors on a service it runs.
The EU has been cracking down on big tech companies for the past few years, and it means business. Just look at how the EU has dismantled Apple’s walled garden, leading to the most divisive iPhone launch in history.

Dual screens would work great for office meetings where some people couldn’t attend, but most people attending would have wished they could have joined from home.
It’s a nice little feature, but I wish it wasn’t limited to the Pixel. With so little change to the iPhone 16 and S25 lineups, the Pixel phones could remain the best phones you can buy for a while.
