Hello, readers. Welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 30, 2024. Today’s article is a look at some new releases to check out as we bid farewell to August. Some are good, some are unique. Other than that, there’s not much to it other than a list of new sales and expiring discounts. This week has been a busy one for me in many ways, but next week I’ll be back to my normal routine. Let’s see what’s going on right now!
Select a new release
Uma Musume: Pretty Derby – Party Dash ($44.99)
I tell you that you are crying. Umamusume! Everyone’s favorite horse girl comes to Switch in this party game for up to four players via local or online multiplayer. There are four minigames to play through, as well as a full story mode with 25 playable characters. Fans of the series will be in for a treat, so if you are one of them, it’s time to start sparring with your friends. Give them as much freedom as you want to win, but be prepared to hoove them when they get angry.
Super Dark Deception ($17.99)
Take it Dark tricksAnd imagine what that would look like in a sprite-based 2D game. Maybe something like this? Super Dark Deception? Maybe not, but Someone’s The idea was obvious, because here we are. Escape the maze with your life, using everything at your disposal to avoid being killed by the creatures that roam the night. At launch, the game only includes the first chapter, which consists of four levels. More will be added over time as free DLC, but before you buy, consider the relatively small amount of content and the unacceptably uncertain future.
Forest, Field, Fort ($4.99)
A tile-placement puzzle game where you build a kingdom one piece at a time. There are two play modes. One is a puzzle mode with a set number and type of pieces, where you have to place the pieces in a way that will give you enough gold to get through. The other mode is an adventure mode, where you can unlock different starting maps and random pieces to build with. If you are looking for cheap puzzle fun these days, it is not bad at all.
Date Z ($14.99)
It’s a choice-based visual novel dating sim where you die if you don’t find a date by Friday. Well, no pressure. There are five potential partners to woo, and of course, there are multiple endings to discover. I was ready to dismiss this as another game in this kind of pile, but then I saw the screenshot above. How do you not include a game with this kind of screenshot on your store page?
Bed Rot ($14.99)
Well, this is a horror game premise I’ve never seen before. You play as a young girl who gets into a car accident. Your body is fine, but your mind is not. You basically can’t seem to get out of bed. You have 20 days to survive, which means you have to eat, use a bucket as a toilet, and do whatever you can to protect yourself. The last part becomes a huge problem as strange visions start to appear. Is it real? Is it your imagination? Does it matter? I’d say this is a game for people who enjoy creepy games.

That’s it for today, this week, this month, my friends. As I mentioned in the beginning, this has been an unusually busy week for me outside of work on this site. I apologize if things have seemed a little light as a result. Next week will be back to normal, which means lots of reviews, new products, sales, and some news. I hope you all have a great weekend, and as always, thanks for reading!
